Once upon a far away moonbeam, a single rose bloomed. Larger than the roses that we know on earth, the rose had travelled across the moonbeam waiting until the time was right. Inside the rose, a young girl slept. As the light from the moonbeam struck her face, she awoke wondering at the beauty around her.
The girl needed no water, for she drank in the loveliness of the spacious skies around her. She needed no food, for she ate the stardust that fell upon her home. She was not lonely for the stars were her friends, and the movement of the planets and galaxies were her tutors. Knowledge of the complexities of the universe was hers, the awe of the supreme being's creations filled her soul with peace and harmony with all things.
In time, the planets revealed secrets to the girl. These secrets filled her soul with curiousity and longing for what she did not know. The planets saw the difficulties that would encompass the girl, should she follow the longings of her heart, and they attempted to warn her that much sorrow would come from her curiousity. But she did not listen. Her soul ached to know these beings existing on the planets.
One day, the rose spoke to the girl. In a dream it showed her the longings of her heart. It showed her a family, although she did not know what that meant, upon a single planet. There was a boy the same age as the girl, and how her heart ached to know him as she knew the planets she travelled by. For the first time in her existence, the girl felt what it was to be lonely.
But the rose warned the girl that if she chose to leave her home, she could not return for many many years. These years would be years of hardship and toil, of challenges and difficulties. For, the rose explained, the people on the planets did not know the mysteries of the universe as she did. They could not see past their own tiny realm of existence, and did not understand the eternal perspective of the universe. Their worries encompassed them and filled them with no room to reflect on the wonders of their own world, let alone their galaxy or universe. However, said the rose, if the girl should chose to join them, she would learn to love as she could not do if she remained. By experiencing evil, she would come to know good. By experiencing sorrow and pain, she would come to know joy. By experiencing loss, she would come to know the fulness of the eternities. And only by experiencing death could she return to her home.
And so the girl awoke with the knowledge that she must leave her home. Upon her rose travelling across the moonbeam, the girl said goodbye to her friends the stars and tutors the planets and gallaxies. The stars and the planets wept for they knew the difficulties that would beset the girl. They told her to always remember where she came from, and despite her sorrows, she would one day return with a more fulness of understanding.
And so it was that the girl began a new journey, the journey of life.
